Cornell Elementary earns state recognition for academic achievement, student growth Cornell Elementary named a 2023-24 Wisconsin School of Recognition Cornell, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has named the Cornell Elementary School a 2023–24 Wisconsin School of Recognition, an honor highlighting its dedication to student growth and achievement. Cornell Elementary received the award in the High Impact category. This distinction is based on a rigorous set of criteria, including academic performance, measurable progress in student growth, and reducing achievement gaps, particularly among students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. “We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their commitment to excellence,” Dr. Paul M. Schley, principal at Cornell Elementary, said. “This recognition reflects the hard work and support of our entire school community, including educators, families, and students.” The Wisconsin Schools of Recognition program honors Title I schools that demonstrate success in educating all students, particularly those experiencing poverty. After a pause during the COVID-19 pandemic, the DPI resumed the awards for the 2023–24 school year to continue celebrating schools that make a lasting impact.
